Wooley served as a member of Asbury's Board of Directors since 2003. He was the former president and chief executive officer of Asbury's Courtesy Automotive Group in Tampa from 1998 until 2005, and served as non-executive chairman of the Tampa-based dealership group from 2005 until 2010. He began his automotive career in 1965 and opened his first dealership in 1975. Prior to selling his dealerships to Asbury in 1998, he owned and operated nine automotive franchises.

In lieu of flowers, the Wooley family asks that contributions be made in Jeff's memory to The Center for Women's Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation in Tampa, Florida.
