The Biden administration is reportedly moving toward slowing stricter automotive emissions limits in its push for more electric vehicle adoption to ease pollution, according to news reports.

The shift would relax limits through 2030, not requiring a steep increase in EV sales until after the next decade commences, according to a New York Times report, citing unnamed sources.

The administration has been pushed by carmakers and labor unions to slow its push for greater EV adoption to help reduce environmentally harmful emissions.

Last year many automakers started to scale back formerly ambitious plans to transition to all-EV lineups as demand flattened after early adoption failed to grow into mass adoption.
