Scammers Target Agent Summit

LAS VEGAS — Organizers of the annual Agent Summit are warning attendees to be wary of unauthorized offers for hotel packages and website sponsorships for the 2017 event, which will be held May 21–24 at Paris Las Vegas.

The schemes have become a nuisance for the trade show industry, said show chair David Gesualdo.

“No one has called to tell us they were taken in by a scam, but many have called to say they have been contacted,” said Gesualdo, publisher of Agent Entrepreneur and F&I and Showroom. “If you only respond to official emails and guard your credit card number, you should be all right.”

A typical scenario involves a third party contacting listed speakers and past attendees with offers of discounted hotel stays or sponsorship opportunities, apparently in an official capacity. Some have gone as far as to build fake event websites, though none that would withstand any level of scrutiny.

Attendees are advised to take advantage of the discounted rate available to Agent Summit attendees who book their rooms at the event’s Paris Las Vegas room block, all of which have been recently renovated. Attendees are further advised to limit their communications to employees of Bobit Business Media and MG Business Media, none of whom will attempt to take credit card information by phone or email.

To register, book your room, or learn more about Agent Summit, visit the event’s website. Attendees who register by April 21 will enjoy a $100 discount.

To discuss sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, contact David Gesualdo at 727-947-4027 or via email.
