Ford is turning industry heads with the windshield-wide instrument panel in its 2024 Lincoln Nautilus sports-utility vehicle.

The futuristic-looking panoramic display – to be expanded to other models later – extends 48 inches across the dashboard just below the windshield and is controlled via a touchscreen next to the steering wheel.

The 4K-resolution display will be customizable and include applications including Google’s mapping and voice assistant – with Alexa as an alternative – and weather forecasts. Videos can also be played when the vehicle is parked.

Ford is promoting the “digital experience” as the consumer’s home away from home in a fast-paced, connected world, and says the system is “simple and intuitive.”

“With home and work lives intertwined, consumers expect consistent access across their smartphones, watches, tablets and laptops,” the company says on its website. “At Ford, we believe this seamless connection should continue when our customers hit the road.”
