Toyota has recalled about 1.9 million RAV4s in the U.S., saying their batteries could catch fire.

The recall affects 2013 to 2018 models. Toyota says some replacement 12-volt batteries in the compact sports-utility vehicles are small to the point that they can move when the vehicle makes “forceful turns” if not clamped down tightly enough, possibly leading to a short circuit and fire.

The Japanese automaker said it’s readying a remedy for dealers to replace battery support equipment, including the clamp, at no charge to owners, who it said it will notify by late December.
